FIDA Foundation Scholarships

FIDA activities aimed at socio-economic empowerment of the underprivileged sections of society were initiated at the Wadeshwar Government Secondary Ashramshala in Maval Taluka, Pune District. It is a government school addressing the educational needs of around 400 adivasi kids and children of migrant labourers serving Stds  I-X. Although it is a government aided school, it lacks even basic amenities like a library, medical facilities, proper toilet blocks, adequate living space, adequate lighting in the dormitories and even regular water supply.

Scholarships

FIDA Foundation Scholarships for higher education are instituted to motivate students to excel at their studies, as also to ensure continuity in education. The scholarships are awarded to the School toppers at the Std X Board exams. The FIDA Foundation scholarship includes a starting amount of Rs 4,000, lodging, boarding, tuition fees, fees for extra coaching if necessitated and a monthly allowance of Rs 500/- per student. The scholarship is provided till the students graduate. FIDA also helps students in exploring job opportunities after completion of their courses.

There are currently 18 students (11 girls and 7 boys) who are a part of the FIDA Foundation Scholarships, since 2006.
